Billing Assistant – Law Firm Experience Required

Wilbraham, Lawler & Buba is seeking an experienced Billing Assistant. The Billing Assistant compiles, manages, and executes attorney billing. This role may also perform a variety of other accounting and bookkeeping duties according to established policies and procedures. This role maintains contact with attorneys, staff, vendors and clients and observes the confidentiality of client and firm matters. Please send your resume and cover letter to [email protected].

Requirements:

  • Two years of Law Firm experience
  • Two years of Legal Billing experience

Experience with Juris and /or Aderant is a plus, but not required.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Compiles and bills attorney hours to clients every month.
  • Reviews and edits pre-bills in response to attorney requests.
  • Process write-offs following Firm policy.
  • Ability to execute complex bills in a timely manner (i.e., split-party billing, preparation of electronic bills).
  • Ability to handle a high volume of bills per month.
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with attorneys, paralegals, and adjusters.
  • Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as required.
  • Research and respond to inquiries regarding billing issues and problems.
  • Creates and prints final client billing.
  • Operates office equipment including personal computer, copiers, fax machines etc.
  • Ensures strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.

Office Clerk – Law Firm Experience Required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Type attorney time sheets.
  • Assist with answering phones and possible receptionist duties.
  • Some hospitality duties.
  • Perform general clerical duties including printing, scanning and copying documents.
  • Transcribe memos and other legal documents as needed.
  • Other administrative/clerical tasks as needed.

Qualifications And Skills:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, in writing and verbally, with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Strong organizational skills with high level of attention to detail.
  • At least 2 or more years of relevant experience with a successful track record.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Some law firm experience preferred.
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs, bend, reach, stand for long periods, and sit for long periods.
  • A friendly attitude, close attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions are required.
