Firm Affiliation
Senior Associate

Summary of Experience
Tim has focused his practice on Pennsylvania workers' compensation defense since 1992. He has handled numerous administrative law trials and has conducted all medical and fact (trial) depositions for those trials. He has also presented oral argument at all appellate levels. Mr. Coffey's practice also includes pursuing subrogation claims to recover benefits paid for work injuries that result from the negligence of third parties. Tim has also counseled clients on compliance with Pennsylvania workers' compensation law through case handling, on-site seminars, file reviews and email law update bulletins.

Selected Individual Accomplishments
As an adjunct to his Pennsylvania workers compensation, Tim has provided many legal opinions on the law as it relates to athletes under Section 308.1 of the Act for Comcast-Spectacor, proud owner of the Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers.
Although rare, Tim has handled workers compensation cases addressing sub issue of coverage disputes and coordinated file handling with coverage attorneys in actions for declaratory judgment and contract rescission.
Tim has also developed an expertise in subrogation matters including petition practice for intervention in third party litigation in state and federal court, as well as participation in settlement conferences in those courts.
Developed understanding of and handled New Jersey workers compensation practice for former firm. With knowledge of New Jersey workers compensation law as it relates to concurrent jurisdictional issues with Pennsylvania, Tim has coordinated cross state border claims to achieve optimal resolution of claims for employers.
Participated in the work group which drafted amendments to the Worker's Compensation Act. The legislation, developed by the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business & Industry and Pa. Trial Lawyers Assoc., benefits both employers and claimants by reducing litigation costs, streamlining the adjudication process, and improving the timeliness and quality of decisions. The legislation, Act 147, was signed into law by Gov. Rendell on December 19, 2006.
